Book in three lectures

This lecture series contains the core model of state capacity and provides a technical summary of all the material in the book. In Lecture 1 we outline the core model with fiscal and legal capacity and investigate some basic correlations in support of our theory. In Lecture 2 the model is extended to endogenize political violence and the arising typology of states is illustrated. In Lecture 3 we use the model to get policy implication for development aid and political reform. Here we also outline the construction of the pillars of prosperity index.
